the only reason ive gotten bitten was because i was trying to move the babies and momma didnt like that at all. n ive been breeding these for awhile

the very first one i purchased chewed through 3 paper bags as soon as i got to the light out of the parking lot. i had to hold the evil little thing by the tail, shaking him vigorously every time he tried to climb up his tail and bite me, which was about every 3 seconds, the whole ride home through austin 6 o'clock traffic. horrible creatures.

I decided to put 4 ASFR pinkies in with some regular rat pinkies and observed them for some time. They are grown now and stay in the ame tub with the 4 reg rats I kept. Much more tame than any of the others. The others do charge and bite but my experiment proved true. Nxt is vigor breeding.lol

I have been breeding them for about 7 months and I only have one adult female (out of 4 trios) that is very aggressive. She tries to bite me every time I reach into the rack. I am willing to tolerate her because she is an excellent breeder. She usually gives birth to 15 to 17 babies and takes very good care of them. The others are fine as long as I leave their babies alone. If they do bite they don’t draw any blood, it’s like a warning. I do have some that are very tame that my 3 year old daughter loves to play with. Of course she has been handling them since they were weaned. As far as the smell factor, I think they are well worth keeping versus mice or rats. I have found that some will eat their babies if there are too many and if they are not weaned within 3 to 3 ½ weeks. I haven’t figured out why, maybe they need more room for new babies. All of my females give birth every 23 to 25 days.

i have the same problem with only one of my females. i need new blood mine have stopped producing as much
